Of signs, symbols, and synchronicities
I have lived my life surrounded by a series of synchronistic experiences nearly always focused on music as a means of conveying the quality of certain relationships, events, and their meanings. I never paid them any mind until this year, having chalked up such experiences to nostalgia, trauma, and other such joys and sorrows one collects as evidence of living.
Recent events have shown me that when anomalous experiences such as mine, which are interconnected in a certain coherent and consistent fashion, reveal their names, relationships, and meanings to me over time and in no uncertain terms, I should pay careful attention. One lesson I have learned throughout is that these sorts of things cannot be judged and valued on initial impressions alone. Regardless of whether it is an unusually remarkable and obscure piece of jewelry, an enigmatic ancient Mesopotamian symbol, or a rather gross-looking entity inhabiting a human host.
It's rather incredible how new the world looks now that I've started paying attention to the things I once ignored. And I can never go back to not noticing.
